Fraud is one issue that has remained at the top of the general insurance industry’s agenda in 2010 and looks set to remain so for many years to come.

As the new coalition government prepares the UK for swingeing cuts in public spending and the UK economy falters towards recovery there will be an inevitable rise in unemployment and economic hardship and it is a fact of life that a bi-product of hard times is a rise in opportunistic, organised and desperation-driven insurance fraud.

The winners of last year’s inaugural Insurance Fraud Awards demonstrated that the insurance industry and its partner suppliers and trade bodies have risen to the challenge of combating and preventing insurance fraud in all its guises – but just as the fraudsters do not stand still, nor can the insurance industry.

The Insurance Fraud Awards 2010 will recognise the industry’s continued efforts to combat and prevent fraud and encourage the spread of best practice and excellence across the sector.
